Section 504 is a plan designed to accommodate the unique needs of an individual with a disability, as required by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The difference between IEP and a 504, is that if your child needs access to the curriculum, but they can learn from the regular education curriculum, the 504 is appropriate.
Both can technically provide specialized instruction, but because no federal funding accompanies a 504, in practice schools use a 504 only for accommodations, modifications,
(not for specialized instruction, related services, etc.). If child needs those, then it's an IEP. Either one should encompass all of the child’s needs.
SIS Software has worked with educators and parents to develop a web-based solution for district Section 504 plans.
Our system allows teachers to easily create and navigate through student LEP plans. We supply teachers with hundreds of district approved strategies.
Th LEP-STAR can automatically import all student demographic information including test scores and rule-based formulas (FCAT Level 1/2) saving teachers time and ensuring the accuracy of the
student data during the creation process of the LEP.
District reports are available to allow administrators to monitor all student LEPs. Find out how many students have an LEP in the district or by individual schools.
Our software permanently archives all LEPs to allow quick reviewing of historic LEPs, review LEPs of students that have withdrawn from the district, monitor who is creating/updating student
LEPs and much more.
During the deployment process SIS Software will work directly with your school district in providing you with a customized version of the LEP-STAR software to meet the needs and
assessments of your district.
